Learn to Drive Safely in Ayrshire

 

My name is Phil Motum and I am a fully qualified DSA Approved Driving Instructor - My driving school offers driving lessons in Saltcoats, Irvine and the surrounding area. I am based in Dreghorn, North Ayrshire, which is ideally located to utilise the Driving Test Centres at Ayr, Kilmarnock and Saltcoats. 

                           

I have a calm relaxed manner which is especially suited to those who are nervous or have anxieties about learning to drive. I strive to make the learning experience as pleasurable and stress free as possible. I believe that communication is a two way street and feedback between student and driving instructor is key to the learning process.

 Whereas I don't make guarantees and I can't sit the test for people, I aim to develop the student's ability and teach them the skills required to be above that of the minimum standard for the DSA Practical Driving Test. This will encourage safe driving for life and not just to learn test routes and how to pass the test. There are many Driving Schools in Ayrshire, but I believe I can offer value for money, along with a professional approach. I don't take on too many pupils at one time, so this will allow for more flexible learning and does not leave each pupil with limited slots each week.

I work with the following principles:

•  I offer one to one driver training, with all my attention focused on the students needs.
•  I don't do car sharing, where one pupil learns from the back seat.
•  My students are not required to uplift the next student as part of their driving lesson.
•  I will not make nor receive phone calls during your lesson.
•  I ask students to wear clean clothes, no dirty overalls or work wear.
•  I keep accurate records of each student's progress.
•  I give honest feedback and keep each student aware of their progress.

I am able to offer the following courses:

• Hourly Driving Lessons, semi intensive courses and intensive courses for learner drivers.
• Refresher courses for those that have not driven in a while.
• Motorway lessons for newly qualified drivers and for those who need to build up their confidence.
• Further courses will be available in the near future.

I am currently completing the NVQ level 3 in Driving Instruction and the DSA Fleet Training Qualification. This is part on ongoing training that will keep me up to date with Training Practices and ahead of my peers. This will also ensure that my pupils will receive the best possible training available.
